Chief Librarian & Librarian

The institution is seeking qualified candidates for the positions of Chief Librarian and Librarian to support its academic library services. These roles involve managing both print and digital resources, ensuring adherence to cataloguing standards, and facilitating access to information that supports teaching, research, and distance learning initiatives. Candidates will play a vital role in maintaining the library environment, overseeing technological systems, and collaborating with committees to optimize library operations.

Key Responsibilities for Chief Librarian:
- Manage the selection, acquisition, organization, and preservation of print and digital library collections.
- Ensure proper cataloguing standards are maintained, including MARC21, RDA, and DDC/LCC.
- Oversee the Library Management System (LMS) and electronic databases.
- Support academic teaching, research activities, and digital library or distance learning programs.
- Maintain accurate library records, conduct stock verification, and manage circulation systems including loans, reminders, and fines.
- Supervise the physical library environment, including seating arrangements, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.
- Coordinate with the Library Committee and prepare budget and resource estimates.

Key Responsibilities for Librarian:
- Manage print and digital collections effectively.
- Ensure compliance with cataloguing standards such as MARC21, RDA, and DDC/LCC.
- Oversee the Library Management System and electronic databases.
- Support research activities and conduct user training sessions to enhance library utilization.

Required Qualifications for Chief Librarian:
- PhD in Library & Information Science, with a preference for specialization in Library Automation.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working in an academic library setting.

Required Qualifications for Librarian:
- MPhil or MS in Library & Information Science, preferably with a focus on Library Automation.
- At least 3 years of experience in an academic library environment.
