MID Construction Group is seeking a China-to-USA Sourcing Specialist to support its International Sourcing & Procurement department. This full-time, remote position focuses on identifying, qualifying, and negotiating with Chinese manufacturers to supply construction products for U.S. projects. The ideal candidate will have practical experience sourcing from China for U.S. companies, with strong skills in supplier qualification, negotiation, quality control, shipping logistics, and landed-cost analysis. This role requires someone who can independently manage the end-to-end sourcing process to ensure cost-effective and reliable procurement solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and identify trustworthy Chinese manufacturers and suppliers for construction products.
- Conduct thorough research on suppliers using platforms such as Alibaba, 1688, Made-in-China, Global Sources, and other relevant channels.
- Compare suppliers based on pricing, product specifications, minimum order quantities (MOQ), lead times, and quality standards.
- Negotiate pricing and supplier terms to secure favorable agreements.
- Request, review, and evaluate product samples and certifications to ensure compliance and quality.
- Calculate total landed costs, including shipping fees, duties, tariffs, and other import-related expenses.
- Perform cost comparisons between China-sourced products and those available in the U.S. market.
- Coordinate communication and logistics with suppliers, freight forwarders, and other logistics providers.
- Monitor and track orders through production, shipping, and delivery stages.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with reliable suppliers to support ongoing procurement needs.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in China sourcing or procurement, preferably within the construction sector.
- Proven experience sourcing products for U.S.-based companies, contractors, importers, or distributors.
- Strong skills in supplier negotiation and qualification processes.
- Solid understanding of international shipping, import regulations, and Incoterms.
- Proficiency in landed-cost calculations and cost comparison analysis.
- Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience sourcing construction or building materials such as plumbing fixtures, faucets, lighting, electrical products, cabinets, flooring, tile, doors, hardware, bathroom and kitchen products, appliances, and FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment).
- Familiarity with quality control standards specific to construction products.
- Ability to assess whether sourcing from China aligns with commercial and project requirements.
