This role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across various hospital areas, including patient rooms, examination rooms, operating theaters, and staff washrooms. The incumbent will ensure that cleaning procedures comply with established infection control protocols and safety regulations. Regular monitoring, cleaning, and replenishment of supplies are essential duties, along with proper handling and disposal of medical and general waste. The position requires vigilance in maintaining equipment, reporting hazards, and supporting emergency cleaning situations to uphold a safe and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

- Regularly monitor and clean staff and patient washrooms, adhering to proper cleaning Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, examination rooms, operating rooms, and other hospital areas thoroughly.
- Dispose of medical and general waste in accordance with infection control guidelines.
- Replenish essential supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and hand sanitizers to ensure availability.
- Clean floors, windows, and surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
- Maintain and store all cleaning equipment correctly to ensure longevity and readiness.
- Report any maintenance issues or potential hazards promptly to the supervisor.
- Follow hospital protocols strictly for hygiene, infection control, and safety measures.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to ensure personal and patient safety.
- Assist in emergency cleaning needs, including managing spills or infection outbreaks.
- Ensure housekeeping trolleys are kept neat and organized throughout the shift.
- Use color-coded mops as per hospital guidelines to prevent cross-contamination.
- Hand over clean and sanitized floors and work areas properly to the next shift.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as mopping, scrubbing, sweeping, or vacuuming floors, stairways, and hallways.
- Thoroughly clean patient rooms and offices, including washing furniture and washroom fixtures.
- Ensure the overall sanitation of hospital premises is maintained consistently.
- Be present at the allocated location during shifts and conduct proper handover during shift changes.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, including the safe handling of chemicals and cleaning equipment.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor to support hospital operations.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience in hospital or healthcare facility cleaning and sanitation.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and hospital hygiene protocols.
- Ability to use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with waste disposal procedures specific to medical environments.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team, with attention to detail.
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning duties, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Commitment to following safety guidelines and using PPE appropriately.
