We are looking for an experienced Cloud, Virtualization, and Systems professional on a project basis to lead the planning and execution of server infrastructure deployment, configuration, and migration. The role involves working with a diverse environment that includes virtual machines, physical/bare-metal servers, containerized applications, and Kubernetes platforms. This is a hands-on technical position requiring involvement in design, implementation, troubleshooting, migration, and operational handover of infrastructure components.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess existing physical servers, virtual machines, operating systems, applications, storage, and their dependencies to inform migration and deployment strategies.
- Develop infrastructure designs, resource sizing, deployment procedures, and detailed migration plans.
- Install and configure physical servers, including firmware updates, RAID setups, remote management interfaces, hypervisors, and management platforms.
- Deploy, configure, and manage enterprise virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Proxmox, or equivalent solutions.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including identity services, DNS, time synchronization, and access controls.
- Deploy and administer Kubernetes clusters and container platforms, managing worker and control-plane nodes, container runtimes, persistent storage, ingress, and access controls.
- Execute workload migrations including physical-to-virtual, virtual-to-virtual, and containerized environments as required.
- Configure server-side storage connectivity, datastores, multipathing, and storage access in collaboration with storage and network teams.
- Implement backup, restoration, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Conduct pre-migration assessments, controlled cutovers, post-migration validation, and rollback procedures when necessary.
- Apply system hardening, patching, monitoring, and enforce role-based access controls to ensure security and compliance.
- Prepare comprehensive as-built documentation, configuration records, operating procedures, and conduct knowledge-transfer sessions for operational teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 16 years of formal education in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years of hands-on enterprise virtualization and systems administration.
- Proven track record of delivering production server deployments and managing complex workload migrations.
- Practical experience in deploying or administering Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
- Strong expertise in at least one major enterprise virtualization platform with the ability to support heterogeneous environments.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, and physical/bare-metal server administration.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, container runtimes, cluster networking, and persistent storage solutions.
- Experience with SAN/NAS integration, storage presentation, and server-side connectivity.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery processes, replication, restoration testing, and disaster recovery planning.
- Skilled in migration planning, dependency mapping, cutover execution, and troubleshooting.
- Competence in scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ansible, or equivalent tools.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Relevant certifications in virtualization, Linux, Microsoft technologies, Kubernetes, or backup platforms are advantageous.
- Candidates should demonstrate practical implementation experience alongside formal qualifications.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex infrastructure projects with a focus on cutting-edge virtualization and container technologies, providing a challenging and rewarding environment for skilled professionals.
