The CS Lab Assistant plays a vital role in supporting both students and faculty within the Computer Science department by ensuring the smooth operation of computer laboratories. This position involves providing technical support, maintaining hardware and software resources, assisting during practical sessions, and upholding a safe and organized lab environment. Reporting to the Lab In-Charge or Head of Department, the assistant helps create an efficient learning atmosphere that facilitates hands-on experience and effective use of lab facilities.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical assistance to students and faculty members during lab sessions, troubleshooting hardware and software issues promptly.
- Maintain and update computer lab equipment, including desktops, peripherals, and networking devices, to ensure optimal performance.
- Install, configure, and upgrade software applications and operating systems as required for coursework and research activities.
- Assist in setting up lab environments for practical classes, workshops, and examinations.
- Monitor lab usage and enforce rules to maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
- Keep inventory records of lab equipment and software licenses, reporting any shortages or malfunctions to the Lab In-Charge.
- Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum delivery by preparing necessary resources and technical setups.
- Provide guidance to students on the proper use of lab equipment and software tools.
- Participate in regular lab maintenance and safety checks to comply with institutional standards.

Required Qualifications

- A diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware components, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and common software applications.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a lab or IT support environment.
- Good communication skills to effectively assist students and faculty.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage lab resources efficiently.
