Key Responsibilities
Construction Planning & Execution: Develop and implement construction execution plans and methodologies aligned with the overall project schedule. Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, structural, and other construction disciplines. Ensure availability of manpower, materials, equipment, tools, and subcontractors. Monitor daily progress and address potential delays, ensuring work complies with approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
Project Schedule & Progress: Track construction progress against the approved baseline schedule. Prepare look-ahead and recovery plans as needed. Identify critical-path activities and schedule risks. Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement, and vendors to resolve constraints. Provide accurate progress reports and construction forecasts.
Site Management: Oversee daily site activities, supervising construction teams, subcontractors, and site supervisors. Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors, and other contractors to ensure smooth site operations. Manage site logistics, access, storage, and material handling. Conduct regular site inspections and coordination meetings.
Quality Management: Ensure construction adheres to approved drawings, specifications, inspection test plans (ITPs), method statements, and applicable standards. Work closely with QA/QC teams for inspections, testing, and documentation. Facilitate timely closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs), punch points, and quality observations. Maintain proper construction records and as-built documentation.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Enforce strict compliance with project HSE requirements and relevant laws. Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, job safety analyses (JSA/JHA), permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, and safety inspections. Halt unsafe work when necessary and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Coordinate with HSE personnel on incident prevention and reporting.
Cost & Resource Control: Monitor construction costs and resource utilization, including manpower, equipment, subcontractors, and materials. Identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality or schedule. Review subcontractor claims, quantities, and progress measurements.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary construction representative on site. Liaise with client representatives, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors. Participate in progress, technical, and coordination meetings. Resolve technical and construction-related issues in collaboration with Engineering and Project Management teams.
Commissioning & Handover: Coordinate construction completion and system turnover to commissioning teams. Ensure mechanical completion activities are planned and documented. Manage punch-list clearance and support pre-commissioning, commissioning, testing, and start-up activities. Complete all necessary dossiers, as-built drawings, test records, and handover documentation.
