This position is designed to support and advance the specialist internal medicine services at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (SKMCH&RC), Peshawar. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering cardiology services and providing medical expertise in daily clinical management. A primary responsibility will be the interpretation and reporting of echocardiograms and other cardiac diagnostic tests. The role also involves active participation in research activities, contributing to peer-reviewed publications, and engaging in the education and training of residents, fellows, and ancillary staff. Additionally, the appointee will help develop and deliver educational programs for both internal and external learners. Working within a multidisciplinary team is a key aspect of this role, in line with the institution’s collaborative approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide expert cardiology services, including the reporting of echocardiograms and other cardiac diagnostic tests.
- Participate in the day-to-day clinical management of patients within the internal medicine and cardiology departments.
- Engage in research activities, contributing to the publication of findings in peer-reviewed medical journals.
- Teach and mentor residents, fellows, and ancillary staff, supporting their professional development.
- Develop and deliver educational programs tailored for internal staff and external candidates.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive patient care and collaborative decision-making.

Required Qualifications

- FCPS, MRCP (UK), or FRCP with a minimum of three years’ experience working in the UK, preferably holding an appropriate CCST or equivalent qualification.
- American Board certification in Internal Medicine with a sub-specialty board certification in Cardiology.
- Full and unencumbered registration with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
- Demonstrated extensive experience in managing patients across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly.
- Proven ability to relate to patients and their families with empathy and understanding.
- Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to function effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
