This role is a vital addition to the Project Tendering and Execution team within the Grid Technologies Substation business in Pakistan. It focuses on providing specialized contractual expertise to support project execution, ensuring business continuity by managing commercial opportunities and risks in project contracts. The position centers on strategic contract and claim management, risk mitigation and compliance, and collaboration across multiple stakeholders. The successful candidate will not only manage contracts but also contribute significantly to the financial and operational success of large-scale engineering or construction projects. Extensive experience in contract management, negotiation, risk analysis, and legal compliance is essential, along with relevant advanced education.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex project contracts with customers, suppliers, and partners to secure favorable commercial and legal terms.
- Develop and implement strategies for managing contract claims, variations, and amendments throughout the project lifecycle to safeguard company interests and optimize financial outcomes.
- Analyze contract performance to identify commercial opportunities and provide expert advice to project management and business controlling teams.
- Act as the subject matter expert on contractual matters, guiding project teams through complex contract landscapes.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments of contractual terms and propose mitigation strategies to minimize financial and operational exposure.
- Ensure all contractual activities comply with corporate governance policies, legal standards, and relevant regulations. Maintain a systematic contract database and documentation process to guarantee accuracy, accessibility, and audit readiness.
- Serve as the primary liaison between project teams, legal, and finance departments on contract-related issues, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.
- Prepare and present clear reports on contract status, key risks, and commercial performance to senior management. Provide coaching and guidance to junior staff on contract management best practices.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Engineering, Business Administration, Construction, or a related field. Relevant certifications in contract and claim management are preferred.
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) as a Contract Manager, preferably within the energy, construction, or large-scale project execution sectors.
- Proven expertise as a subject matter expert managing complex contracts and claims independently.
- Strong skills in contract negotiation, preparation, compliance, legal risk assessment, and subcontracting.
- Excellent analytical and strategic abilities, including familiarity with AI trends, risk management, and digitalization initiatives.
- Strong behavioral and communication skills, including negotiation, influencing, and a strong sense of accountability.
