Cost Estimation Engineer

P6 Planning, a US-based technology and engineering company headquartered in Suwanee, Georgia, specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of high-performance cable assemblies, connectors, and advanced interconnect solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced professional to join our team to support the costing and quotation process for cable assemblies and interconnect products. This role involves reviewing customer requests, developing bills of materials, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely submissions.

Key Responsibilities
- Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, technical specifications, and product requirements to fully understand project scope.
- Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and interconnect products.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates that include materials, labor, tooling, manufacturing processes, and other relevant expenses.
- Request, evaluate, and compare supplier quotations, working closely with suppliers to clarify both technical and commercial details.
- Prepare quotations for prototype and low-volume production runs (e.g., 10, 20, 50, and 100 units), as well as for larger production volumes.
- Analyze cost drivers, identify opportunities for cost reduction, and support strategic pricing decisions.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure all RFQ submissions are accurate and delivered on time.
- Maintain organized records of costing data, quotation files, and BOM information to support ongoing and future projects.

Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with DAC, AEC, AOC, and ACC cable assemblies, particularly for 400G to 1.6T applications.
- Knowledge of QSFP-DD, OSFP, twinax, and fiber-optic connectors and interconnect technologies.
- Strong understanding of Ethernet, industrial cable assemblies, and custom wire harnesses.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and technical documentation with precision.
- Proven experience in BOM development, labor costing, supplier quotation evaluation, and manufacturing cost estimation.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Prior experience working with cable assembly manufacturers, contract manufacturers, or interconnect suppliers is highly preferred.
- Candidates with direct cable assembly manufacturing and costing experience will be prioritized over those with a general electrical engineering background.
- Strong analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple RFQs and deadlines simultaneously are essential.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to effectively liaise with suppliers and internal teams are required.
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred; however, relevant hands-on industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
