CTO Guarantees Officer Soneri Bank Karachi Pakistan

Soneri Bank is seeking an experienced professional for the position of CTO Guarantees Officer within its Centralized Trade Operations (CTO) department based in Karachi. This role is designed for candidates with a solid background in bank guarantees, trade operations, regulatory compliance, guarantee documentation, and core banking systems. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience at the OG-I level, strong knowledge of State Bank of Pakistan Foreign Exchange Regulations, URDG 758, ISP98, AML/TBML frameworks, and legal vetting related to guarantees. This position requires a practical understanding of guarantee processing, documentation, amendments, claims, and operational controls, as well as the ability to work under pressure and manage teams effectively.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end bank guarantee operations including issuance, amendments, claims, expiry, and closure while ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Ensure adherence to SBP Foreign Exchange Regulations and maintain accurate documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
- Apply knowledge of URDG 758 (Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees) and ISP98 (International Standby Practices) in processing guarantees and standby letters of credit.
- Conduct legal vetting of guarantee drafts and coordinate with legal and compliance teams to resolve documentation issues.
- Monitor and implement AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and TBML (Trade-Based Money Laundering) policies to mitigate compliance risks in trade transactions.
- Utilize core banking systems, preferably Temenos T24 and Payment Safe, to process guarantee-related transactions efficiently.
- Prepare and maintain reports using Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, for transaction monitoring and reconciliation.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure smooth operations and timely resolution of issues.
- Lead and manage a team within a high-pressure environment, ensuring operational accuracy and compliance with deadlines.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum graduation degree from a recognized institution.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience specifically related to bank guarantees at OG-I level.
- Strong knowledge of SBP Foreign Exchange Regulations, URDG 758, ISP98, and AML/TBML frameworks.
- Experience in legal vetting of guarantee drafts and understanding of the Stamp Duty Act.
- Proficiency in core banking systems, with preference given to candidates experienced in Temenos T24 and Payment Safe platforms.
- Solid skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for operational and reporting purposes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate across departments and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure, with prior experience in team management or supervisory roles.
