Veeam is a global leader in data resilience and security, helping organizations understand, secure, and manage their data and AI environments to accelerate safe AI adoption at scale. Headquartered in Seattle with offices in over 30 countries, Veeam supports more than 550,000 customers worldwide, ensuring their businesses remain operational and protected. We are seeking a technically skilled Customer Engineer to join our Engineering team, serving as a vital bridge between Engineering and Go-to-Market (GTM) teams such as Sales Engineering, Professional Services, and Enablement. This role focuses on supporting the deployment and understanding of our Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) platform. Although not customer-facing, it requires a deep technical knowledge of the product and its underlying technologies to assist field teams during both pre-sales and post-sales activities. This position is ideal for someone who wants to stay close to technology without engaging in traditional coding tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical liaison between Engineering and GTM teams, providing product knowledge, tooling, setup, and deployment support.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering to understand new features, deployment needs, and system behaviors, translating these into actionable documentation, enablement content, demo environments, and internal tools.
- Assist with the internal setup and deployment of DSPM components, including Kubernetes-based microservices, data connectors, and APIs, while validating staging and demo environments.
- Develop internal technical resources such as playbooks, integration guides, architecture diagrams, and enablement materials for field teams.
- Support GTM teams with API usage, scripting (e.g., Python), and basic troubleshooting during proof-of-concept and pilot phases.
- Read, interpret, and occasionally modify basic code or configuration files to aid in debugging and integration efforts.
- Validate deployment workflows across cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure, ensuring alignment with field best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years in a technical role within an engineering or product-focused environment, such as developer support, sales enablement, QA, or technical consulting.
- Strong understanding of modern cloud-native technologies, including Kubernetes, containerized services, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with data infrastructure components such as SQL databases, data lakes, and data warehouses.
- Proficiency in basic scripting languages like Python or shell scripting for automation, API interaction, and integration testing.
- Ability to read and comprehend application code and configuration files (Python, YAML, JSON) to support troubleshooting and deployment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex technical concepts for internal teams and cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience or familiarity with DSPM, CSPM, or related data security and privacy tools.
- Background in Sales Engineering enablement, solution delivery, or product support roles.
- Exposure to DevOps tools such as Helm, Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of compliance and risk management frameworks like SOC 2 and GDPR.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments or with distributed technical teams.
This role offers a unique opportunity to be embedded within the Engineering team while playing a critical part in enabling go-to-market success. It allows you to remain hands-on with modern cloud-native infrastructure, APIs, and data systems without full-time software development responsibilities. The position provides high visibility across product, engineering, and field organizations, making it an excellent fit for those who enjoy solving technical challenges, enabling others, and working with cutting-edge security technology.
