Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric / Azure Synapse)

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with expertise in Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse to join our team immediately. This full-time, on-site position is based in Islamabad and is open exclusively to local candidates. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining a robust data infrastructure that supports our client’s analytics ecosystem within the QSR and retail sectors. You will manage the entire data pipeline lifecycle—from ingestion and transformation to modeling and delivery—ensuring data accuracy, governance, and optimal performance across all business intelligence workflows. This role is perfect for someone passionate about leveraging Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse to integrate data from diverse systems such as POS, accounting, ERP, and CRM.

Key Responsibilities

- Take full ownership of end-to-end data pipelines by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable ETL/ELT processes to guarantee reliable and timely data delivery.
- Build and manage cloud-based data warehouses utilizing Azure Synapse, OneLake, and Direct Lake Mode to support analytics needs.
- Integrate and orchestrate data flows using Microsoft Fabric to unify data for business intelligence and analytics consumption.
- Connect and consolidate data from multiple systems including POS, accounting, ERP, and CRM into a centralized data architecture.
- Optimize performance by tuning SQL queries, Python scripts, and transformation workflows to enhance scalability and efficiency.
- Ensure strong data governance, validation, and compliance standards are maintained across all pipelines to safeguard data security and accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with BI developers to deliver analytics-ready datasets and high-performing data models.
- Drive continuous improvement by automating workflows and adopting new Azure and Microsoft Fabric capabilities to increase data reliability and processing speed.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data engineering or BI back-end development.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and OneLake platforms.
- Proficient in SQL, Python, PySpark, Power Query (M), and designing ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Demonstrated experience integrating data from POS, ERP, accounting, and CRM systems.
- Proven skills in cloud data architecture, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data accuracy, and security best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
