Data QA Engineer - Remote

Key Responsibilities
As a Data QA Engineer at Zyte, you will ensure the accuracy and quality of data before it reaches our customers. You will translate customer scraping and data requirements into clear, actionable test plans and take ownership of quality assurance from the outset of new projects. Your role involves combining exploratory manual and visual testing with automation where it adds value. You will execute test cycles on extracted data, clearly report results, and document defects with sufficient detail for developers to reproduce and resolve issues independently.

You will use descriptive statistics, summaries, and visualizations to assess data completeness, accuracy, consistency, and drift. Producing comprehensive test reports and quality scores will provide transparency to both internal teams and customers. Communicating what was tested, what was not, and the associated risks is essential. Collaboration with project managers and clients to clarify ambiguous or untestable requirements before QA begins is a key part of your role.

Additionally, you will contribute to our test automation framework, focusing on improving coverage and performance. You will suggest and implement enhancements to QA processes and tooling, including browser and spreadsheet add-ons as well as UI-based test automation tools. This role requires working closely with QA leadership, project managers, and developers with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in QA engineering or a related role focused on software or data testing.
- Proficiency in Python, especially using Pandas and Jupyter notebooks for data analysis and validation.
- Basic to intermediate SQL skills, with comfort working in at least one relational database environment.
- Strong understanding of web technologies and protocols, including HTML, XPath, JSON, HTTP, and CSS.
- Experience writing tests for HTTP/REST APIs.
- Proactive and detail-oriented approach with a strong sense of ownership for project quality.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex project domains and adapt to new technologies.
- Experience leveraging AI and large language models (LLMs) to optimize test case generation and accelerate data validation.
- Solid skills in test case design and test data management.
- Experience working in agile teams (Scrum or Kanban) alongside developers.
- Knowledge of data quality concepts such as completeness, accuracy, consistency, and drift.
- Strong attention to detail and confidence to maintain quality standards under delivery pressure.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
