Database Administrator (DBA) – PostgreSQL

We are seeking an experienced Database & Reporting Specialist to join our team on an urgent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases and the reporting layer for the Fuel Pass system. This role requires ensuring accurate, secure, and high-performing data operations throughout the project lifecycle, supporting both operational and strategic needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain PostgreSQL database structures, schemas, and relationships tailored to the Fuel Pass system requirements.
- Build and deliver custom reports and dashboards to meet operational, management, and audit needs.
- Develop and manage ETL processes and data ingestion pipelines from various data sources.
- Ensure data quality through rigorous validation, cleansing, and consistency checks.
- Perform data reconciliation between systems and transaction records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Optimize database queries, indexes, and overall performance to enhance speed and scalability.
- Automate recurring data tasks, reports, and maintenance activities to improve efficiency.
- Implement and manage role-based access control and data security measures to safeguard sensitive information.
- Set up and maintain audit trails and logging mechanisms for traceability and compliance purposes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues promptly, minimizing downtime.
- Document database designs, data flows, reports, and operational procedures clearly and comprehensively.
- Collaborate effectively with developers, business analysts, and project stakeholders to align database solutions with business goals.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Proven hands-on experience working with PostgreSQL in production environments.
- Strong expertise in database design and data modeling principles.
- Demonstrated experience in custom reporting and report development.
- Practical knowledge of ETL and data ingestion processes.
- Solid understanding of data quality assurance and reconciliation practices.
- Expertise in query optimization and database performance tuning.
- Experience with automation techniques including scripting, scheduled jobs, and workflow automation.
- Familiarity with access control mechanisms and audit trail implementation.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues efficiently under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI, Metabase, Superset, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or SQL procedural languages like PL/pgSQL.
- Knowledge of backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies for database systems.
- Prior experience working on short-term, fast-paced project assignments is highly desirable.
