Deputy Manager – SAP Datasphere

This is a 2-year contractual opportunity with a leading multinational engineering group based in Pakistan, known for its extensive presence across Pakistan, the GCC, the Middle East, and Africa. With over 40 years of experience and a workforce exceeding 20,000 employees, the company specializes in EPC, construction, manufacturing, maintenance, and industrial services across sectors such as oil & gas, power, chemicals, petrochemicals, fertilizer, cement, and infrastructure. As part of their ongoing growth, they are enhancing their SAP data and analytics capabilities and are seeking a skilled professional to lead this critical function.

Key Responsibilities

You will take full ownership of SAP data modeling, integration, and reporting across the organization. This includes hands-on leadership of SAP Datasphere and Business Data Cloud initiatives, as well as guiding a small analytics team. Collaboration with finance, procurement, projects, operations, and senior management will be essential to ensure the delivery of reliable and timely data for informed decision-making.

- Design and develop SAP Datasphere and Business Data Cloud models, including semantic layers, data replication, and harmonized datasets.
- Integrate SAP systems (S/4HANA, BW) and non-SAP data sources into a unified, governed data layer.
- Lead end-to-end data migration processes covering extraction, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
- Build and maintain SAP Analytics Cloud dashboards, reports, and planning models tailored to various business functions.
- Establish and uphold data governance frameworks, data quality standards, and data lineage documentation.
- Monitor data pipelines proactively to identify and resolve issues before impacting users.
- Gather and translate business user requirements into effective analytics solutions.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT) for analytics enhancements and maintain comprehensive documentation.
- Mentor and guide junior members within the SAP analytics team to foster skill development and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in SAP Data and Analytics.
- Proven track record with at least two full lifecycle implementations or migrations involving SAP Datasphere, SAP BW, or SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Strong hands-on expertise in SAP Datasphere / Business Data Cloud is mandatory.
- Proficient in SAP Analytics Cloud for both reporting and planning functionalities.
- Experience with SAP BW/4HANA and/or BW Bridge.
- Solid understanding of S/4HANA data structures, including CDS Views and Analytical Queries.
- Advanced skills in SQL, scripting, data modeling, and integration design.
- Familiarity with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP); exposure to Azure or AWS is advantageous.
- Experience implementing data governance tools and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related discipline is required; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Relevant SAP certifications are preferred.
- Experience working within EPC, engineering, oil & gas, power, or manufacturing industries is highly desirable.
- Prior experience leading or mentoring a small team will be beneficial.
- This role requires working on-site, providing direct engagement with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
