The role involves supporting the HBZ Services (HBZS) Risk Control Head in implementing, coordinating, monitoring, and reporting on Operational Risk Management activities across HBZ Services and Group Support Functions (GSF) located in Pakistan and the UAE. This position plays a key role in executing the Group Operational Risk frameworks, conducting risk assessments, managing risk reporting, tracking issues, and ensuring compliance with governance and regulatory requirements. The objective is to effectively manage operational risk exposures and support a robust risk control environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Risk Framework & Regulatory Compliance: Assist in implementing and maintaining the Group Operational Risk Framework across HBZ Services and GSF in Pakistan and UAE. Monitor compliance with Group policies, standards, and regulatory requirements. Identify, document, and track remediation of control gaps and non-compliance issues.
Risk Self-Assessment (RSA) & Control Assurance: Coordinate and support the execution of the RSA program. Maintain RSA documentation, monitor remediation efforts, and assist with control validation and assurance activities to evaluate the effectiveness of controls and risk mitigation measures.
Key Risk Indicator (KRI) Monitoring: Collect, validate, analyze, and report on KRIs. Monitor thresholds, identify emerging trends and breaches, escalate significant concerns, and support ongoing risk monitoring and management.
Operational Risk Event (ORE) Management: Maintain a comprehensive inventory of operational risk events, including financial and non-financial incidents. Support event reporting, conduct root cause analyses, facilitate lessons learned reviews, and track corrective actions to closure.
Change Risk Assessment (CRA) Coordination: Facilitate and coordinate CRAs for projects, system changes, process modifications, and outsourcing arrangements in line with Group requirements. Maintain the CRA register and monitor the implementation of mitigation actions.
Risk Reviews, Issue Management & Action Tracking (IMAT): Support risk assessment reviews, identification of control gaps, emerging risks, and operational risk themes. Maintain IMAT records and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding actions, escalating issues as necessary.
Risk Reporting & Management Information: Prepare periodic and ad hoc operational risk reports covering RSAs, KRIs, OREs, CRAs, control assurance reviews, and outstanding risk actions. Assist in developing dashboards, management information, and submissions for Group Operational Risk and senior management.
Governance & Committee Support: Provide administrative and functional support to the HBZ Services Risk & Control Forum, including meeting coordination, agenda preparation, minute-taking, action tracking, and follow-up. Support maintenance of operational risk governance records and reporting requirements.
Required Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, or a related field is essential. Candidates should have 4 to 6 years of experience in Operational Risk, Risk & Control, Compliance, Audit, Governance, or related functions within the banking or financial services sector. A strong understanding of Operational Risk Management frameworks such as RCSA/RSA, KRIs, Operational Risk Events, Change Risk Assessments, and Issue Management is required. Knowledge of risk governance, internal controls, and regulatory requirements in a regulated financial environment is necessary. Experience in risk reporting, control assessments, remediation tracking, and stakeholder coordination is expected. The ability to coordinate across multiple business units, functions, and jurisdictions within banking or shared services environments is preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills are critical. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and reporting tools is required.
