Design & Estimation Manager - Gulberg Greens

Location: Islamabad (Gulberg Greens)

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Design & Estimation Manager to lead the Fire Protection Systems division within our engineering consultancy department. This leadership role demands a professional with strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to guide a team in the design, development, compliance, and execution of fire protection systems across industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of NFPA standards, local civil defense codes, and fire safety regulations, along with proven experience managing design teams, engaging with clients, and delivering code-compliant fire protection solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management:
- Lead the fire protection engineering team, overseeing design, technical coordination, and documentation.
- Provide mentorship and performance management to design engineers and draftsmen.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality standards.

Design & Technical Oversight:
- Supervise the preparation and review of detailed engineering designs, including hydraulic calculations, layout drawings, and system schematics for fire sprinkler, fire hydrant, gas suppression (FM-200, NOVEC, Inergen, CO₂), foam, and fire alarm/detection systems.
- Validate designs for compliance with NFPA standards, local codes, and insurance requirements.
- Review and approve all design submissions, technical reports, and shop drawings prior to client or authority submission.

Project Coordination & Client Engagement:
- Participate in project kick-offs, design coordination, and progress meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities.
- Liaise with Civil Defense and other relevant authorities to obtain design approvals and NOCs.
- Provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from pre-sales and bidding to commissioning and handover.

Documentation & Compliance:
- Ensure all design documentation is prepared, submitted, and archived according to ISO 9001, NFPA, and company quality procedures.
- Develop and maintain standard templates, technical specifications, and design criteria manuals.
- Coordinate with QA/QC and site teams to resolve technical issues.

Business Development & Proposals:
- Support sales and proposals teams by reviewing and preparing design inputs, BOQs, and technical proposals.
- Evaluate RFQs and tender specifications to assess scope and technical requirements.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Fire Protection, or Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in fire protection system design and engineering, including at least 3 years in a managerial or lead role.
- Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC, FM Global, and local fire codes (such as Saudi and UAE Civil Defense).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), and fire protection design software like Elite Fire, HydraCAD, and Canute.
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle pressure in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
- Revit experience is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

- CFPS (NFPA)
- LEED GA / AP
- NICET Certification (Level III/IV in Fire Protection)
- PMP (Project Management Professional)

Working Conditions

- Primarily office-based with regular site and client visits.
- Occasional regional travel may be required.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project priorities.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in Islamabad (Gulberg Greens).
