We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Design Trainee Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to work under the guidance of senior engineers and gain practical experience in the design and documentation of Fire Protection and MEP systems. It is ideal for fresh engineering graduates eager to develop hands-on design skills and build a career in fire protection and MEP consultancy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist senior engineers in preparing designs for Fire Protection and MEP systems.
- Prepare and modify technical drawings, layouts, schematics, and design documentation.
- Develop AutoCAD drawings and support Revit/MEP drawings as needed.
- Assist with basic engineering calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing under supervision.
- Help prepare BOQs, MTOs, material specifications, and technical submittals.
- Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify design requirements and coordination issues.
- Support the preparation of fire hydrant, sprinkler, fire alarm, and suppression system layouts.
- Develop an understanding of relevant NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications.
- Coordinate design activities with architectural, structural, electrical, and other MEP disciplines alongside senior engineers.
- Assist in reviewing drawings and incorporating design revisions or comments.
- Participate in site visits when required for design verification and to understand existing site conditions.
- Maintain proper documentation of drawings, calculations, revisions, and project files.
- Liaise with project, estimation, procurement, and site teams to gather technical information as needed.
- Meet assigned deadlines while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Perform other technical and design-related tasks as assigned by the reporting manager.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline from an HEC-recognized university.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
Required Skills:
- Basic understanding of Fire Protection and MEP systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential.
- Familiarity with Revit MEP is advantageous.
- Basic knowledge of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good command of MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a technical team environment.
Preferred Knowledge:
- Basic awareness of NFPA standards related to fire protection systems.
- Understanding of sprinkler, hydrant, fire alarm, and fire suppression systems.
- Familiarity with hydraulic calculations or fire protection design software is a plus.
- Exposure to MEP coordination or Fire Protection drawings will be beneficial.
