We are seeking a skilled Adobe InDesign and Photoshop Designer to join our print production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing precise, press-ready files, ensuring every job meets exact specifications before printing. This role demands a keen eye for detail, as files that appear correct on screen may still require adjustments to be print-ready. You will collaborate closely with sales and production teams to deliver high-quality printed materials efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare press-ready files using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop for a variety of print products including business cards, brochures, flyers, postcards, booklets, posters, banners, and signage.
- Preflight customer-supplied files by checking resolution, color mode, bleed, trim, safe margins, fonts, and linked assets, resolving any issues prior to production.
- Build and edit layouts in InDesign utilizing master pages, paragraph and character styles, and multi-page document setups.
- Retouch, color-correct, and optimize images in Photoshop, including RGB to CMYK conversion, background removal, and creating clipping paths.
- Set up files to precise specifications, incorporating crop marks, die lines, Pantone spot colors, fold lines, and special layers such as spot UV or foil.
- Create step-and-repeat and basic imposition layouts when required.
- Export press-ready PDFs (PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4) and package jobs with all necessary fonts and linked files.
- Send digital proofs to customers for approval, clearly explaining any file issues and managing revisions promptly.
- Verify final files against job tickets for size, copy, color, and finishing details before releasing to production.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize rush orders, and maintain organized job files and templates.
- Communicate effectively with sales and production teams via email, chat, and video calls.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in graphic design focused on print production, prepress, or within a print or sign shop environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop; working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat Pro’s preflight tools is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of prepress fundamentals including CMYK vs. RGB, Pantone spot colors, bleed and safe zones, 300 DPI resolution, overprint, transparency, and font management.
- Proven experience preparing press-ready PDFs and troubleshooting problematic customer files.
- Familiarity with digital and offset printing processes; experience with large-format printing or RIP software such as EFI Fiery, Onyx, or Caldera is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify typos, color inconsistencies, low-resolution images, and layout errors before printing.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
- Clear written and spoken English communication skills for collaboration with US-based customers and team members.
- A portfolio showcasing print work such as layouts, marketing materials, packaging, or signage is required.
- Reliable high-speed internet, a dedicated workspace, and availability during US business hours.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in graphic design or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
