DevOps Engineer

Simplex Technology Solutions is seeking a seasoned DevOps Engineer with extensive experience in AWS to join their on-site team in Lahore. The company powers the commerce platform behind some of the world’s largest restaurant brands, supporting websites, mobile apps, kiosks, call centers, delivery, and loyalty programs. This platform operates on AWS with a 99.99% uptime, handling high transaction volumes across the Middle East and Europe. The ideal candidate will be passionate about AWS, automation, and proactive problem-solving to maintain and scale a fast, reliable, and secure platform.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage the AWS infrastructure that supports the platform, including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, S3, VPC, CloudFront, Route 53, and IAM, ensuring scalability, high availability, and multi-region resilience.
- Containerize workloads using Docker and deploy them on ECS or EKS with secure, optimized images.
- Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, integrating SonarQube for quality and security checks to uphold high standards before deployment.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and automate routine tasks such as provisioning, scaling, and backups with Bash and Python scripting.
- Ensure platform observability and reliability through monitoring metrics, logs, traces, and service-level objectives (SLOs), while maintaining on-call readiness and security best practices.
- Proactively identify risks related to cost, capacity, and reliability, and keep runbooks updated to enable smooth team operations.

Required Qualifications
- Over 8 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or site reliability engineering, with deep expertise in AWS core services.
- Strong proficiency in Docker and container orchestration platforms such as ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
- Practical experience managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including integration of SonarQube for quality and security gating.
- Skilled in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or AWS CDK, along with automation scripting in Bash and Python.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with excellent documentation and knowledge-sharing habits.
- A security-first approach ingrained in coding, pipeline management, and infrastructure design.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- AWS certifications such as DevOps Engineer or Solutions Architect are highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes (especially EKS), observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog, and experience with FinOps or cost optimization.
- Familiarity with regulated or audit-compliant environments, including ISO 27001, SOC 2, or PCI-DSS standards.
