DevOps Engineer

Comtanix, a fast-growing BPO company situated in Bahria Town, Phase 8, Rawalpindi, is looking for a skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join their team. This role focuses on managing, automating, securing, and optimizing application infrastructure and deployment environments. The position requires working night shifts from 6 PM to 3 AM, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linux administration, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, networking, server management, monitoring, security, and database administration. Collaboration with developers and technical teams is essential to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient application deployment across development, staging, and production environments. The monthly salary offered ranges from PKR 70,000 to PKR 130,000.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain Linux-based servers and production infrastructure, including application servers, web servers, DNS, SSL certificates, firewalls, and networking components. Monitor server resources, availability, performance, and overall system health, troubleshooting infrastructure and production-related issues promptly. Oversee cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud by configuring compute resources, storage, networking, and security settings. Implement and maintain reliable deployment and scaling strategies for cloud environments and application hosting.

Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate application builds, testing, deployment, and rollback processes, improving deployment speed and consistency. Build, configure, and manage Docker containers, optimizing container performance and resource utilization; experience with Kubernetes is considered a plus. Manage MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB databases by monitoring health and performance, optimizing queries and configurations, and implementing backup, restoration, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.

Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance tracking for applications, servers, databases, and infrastructure to identify and resolve performance or availability issues. Enforce security best practices across servers, applications, databases, and cloud infrastructure, including managing access controls, credentials, and permissions securely. Collaborate closely with development teams to support deployment troubleshooting, participate in architecture discussions, and maintain technical documentation for infrastructure and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or system administration roles is essential. Strong Linux administration skills with hands-on experience managing Linux servers are required. Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is necessary. Solid knowledge of Docker and CI/CD pipeline tools, along with experience using Git, GitHub, or GitLab, is expected.

Familiarity with web servers (Nginx/Apache), DNS, SSL/TLS, networking, and firewall configurations is important. Experience managing relational and NoSQL databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, with strong skills in performance optimization and troubleshooting, is required. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and/or Python is essential. Experience with monitoring and logging tools for infrastructure and applications is expected. A good understanding of cloud security principles and infrastructure best practices is necessary. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities are critical for success in this role.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Experience with Kubernetes container orchestration is highly desirable. Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform is a plus. Knowledge of Redis and AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, CloudFront, Route 53, and IAM will be advantageous. Experience implementing automated backup solutions and disaster recovery plans is preferred. A background in designing and maintaining high-availability and scalable infrastructure is beneficial. Exposure to application security and vulnerability management practices is also valued.
