Relief International (RI), a global non-profit organization working across 15 countries to support communities affected by climate change and disasters, is seeking a District MEAL Assistant. This role supports Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) and Management Information Systems (MIS) activities within a designated district in Pakistan. Reporting to the Provincial MEAL Officer, the Assistant will conduct field monitoring, manage data collection and quality assurance, support community feedback mechanisms, and contribute to timely reporting. The position involves close collaboration with program teams, implementing partners, and local stakeholders to ensure effective and accountable project implementation, particularly within mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor project activities in the assigned district against approved outputs and indicators, conducting regular field visits to verify quality and timeliness.
- Collect, verify, and maintain project data using approved MIS tools and templates, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies in coordination with relevant staff.
- Submit regular monitoring reports and datasets to the Provincial MEAL Officer according to established deadlines.
- Support data quality assurance through routine checks and verification exercises aligned with organizational and donor standards.
- Assist in coordinating data collection for surveys, assessments, and outcome monitoring, ensuring informed consent and adherence to ethical guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality by securely handling sensitive information and safeguarding participant identities.
- Provide technical support and capacity building to district staff and data collectors on MEAL tools, data management, and reporting procedures.
- Facilitate community engagement by supporting accessible feedback and complaints mechanisms, promoting accountability to affected populations.
- Document lessons learned, good practices, and outcome stories while protecting participant confidentiality.
- Uphold Relief International’s Code of Conduct, safeguarding policies, and humanitarian principles, fostering a safe and ethical working environment.
- Collaborate effectively with program and support teams to ensure compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Provincial MEAL Officer consistent with the role.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in MEAL, MIS, data management, or project monitoring, preferably within an NGO or INGO setting.
- Practical knowledge of MEAL principles and experience in data collection, validation, database maintenance, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and digital data collection platforms such as Kobo or ODK.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Urdu.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to confidentiality, ethical data handling, and following consent and safeguarding procedures.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Experience with data visualization and MIS platforms like Power BI or LogAlto.
- Familiarity with community feedback mechanisms and monitoring of MHPSS, protection, or health programs.
- Background in humanitarian or development program contexts.
- Understanding of donor reporting requirements and data quality assurance processes.
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in the project area is an advantage.
