Relief International (RI), a global non-profit organization dedicated to supporting communities affected by climate change and disasters, is seeking a District MEAL Assistant to join its team. Operating across 15 countries, RI delivers programs in Health and Nutrition, WASH, Education, and Livelihoods to build resilience and promote long-term wellbeing. In Pakistan, RI collaborates with government bodies, local organizations, and humanitarian partners to implement inclusive and accountable programs, including mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). The District MEAL Assistant will work under the Provincial MEAL Officer’s supervision to support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities and Management Information Systems (MIS) within the assigned district. This role involves routine field monitoring, data collection and verification, database management, community feedback support, and timely reporting to ensure high-quality program implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor project activities in the district according to approved outputs, outcomes, and indicators, conducting regular field visits to verify quality and timeliness.
- Submit monitoring reports and verified data within established deadlines for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reporting cycles.
- Maintain and update district databases using approved MIS tools, ensuring data accuracy by cross-checking with source documents and resolving discrepancies.
- Conduct routine data quality checks and verification exercises to comply with organizational and donor standards.
- Coordinate with project and field staff to facilitate timely, accurate data collection and support surveys, assessments, and outcome monitoring under supervision.
- Support capacity building by orienting and coaching district staff and data collectors on MEAL tools, procedures, and data quality requirements.
- Assist in managing community feedback and complaints mechanisms, ensuring accessible channels for participants and confidential referral of sensitive cases.
- Promote Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) by informing communities about project objectives, eligibility, services, and feedback options.
- Document lessons learned, good practices, and outcome stories while safeguarding participant confidentiality.
- Uphold Relief International’s Code of Conduct, safeguarding policies, and humanitarian principles, modeling ethical behavior and ensuring a safe environment for staff and communities.
- Collaborate effectively with program and support teams, providing technical support and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Provincial MEAL Officer consistent with the role and professional standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in MEAL, MIS, data management, or project monitoring, preferably with NGOs or INGOs.
- Practical knowledge of MEAL principles, data collection, validation, database maintenance, and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and digital data collection platforms such as Kobo or ODK.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills in English and Urdu.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to handling confidential information responsibly and following consent and safeguarding procedures.
- Willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or LogAlto.
- Familiarity with community feedback mechanisms and monitoring of MHPSS, protection, or health programs.
- Background in humanitarian or development settings.
- Understanding of donor reporting requirements and data quality assurance processes.
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in the project area is an advantage.
