As part of the WiFi DevOps team, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing Silicon Labs’ software delivery strategy for Wi-Fi software. This hands-on position involves applying DevOps principles to improve package management, develop CI/CD pipelines, and optimize embedded software build and release processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient, high-quality software delivery for both internal and external stakeholders. The role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to drive innovation and continuous improvement across a global software organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy CI/CD pipelines tailored for embedded software products, addressing DevOps and tooling needs including build systems and test infrastructure.
- Maintain and enhance existing CI/CD pipelines and related infrastructure.
- Define and implement the technical vision for embedded software build and release processes in partnership with infrastructure and site reliability engineering teams.
- Identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort in software delivery.
- Establish metrics and advocate for software development standards to ensure consistency and quality across projects.
- Streamline redundant tasks and infrastructure to boost developer productivity and accelerate software development cycles.
- Develop and implement analytics and telemetry solutions to provide actionable insights and drive continuous improvements.
- Collaborate on optimizing cloud infrastructure to reduce operational costs.
- Utilize monitoring and alerting tools to maintain system health and performance.
- Document software processes, guidelines, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in both software development and DevOps practices.
- Proven experience in embedded software development.
- Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Skilled in at least two programming languages, including both high-level and low-level languages (e.g., Java, C, Rust, Python, JavaScript, Groovy).
- Strong system administration and scripting skills across Linux, Windows, Shell scripting, or PowerShell.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, or Nomad.
- Solid understanding of source control systems (e.g., Git) and best practices for managing code repositories.
- Experience working in open-source, collaborative environments, establishing workflows for private and public repositories.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting technologies like Splunk, Nagios, or Grafana.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as pytest or Robot.
- Knowledge of quality tools like SonarQube.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
