Engineering Manager - Karachi, Pakistan

Key Responsibilities

- Architect, design, and develop cloud-based software applications that meet business needs.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Infrastructure, Design, UX, CLM, and Strategy to deliver high-quality products.
- Enforce agile methodologies such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and test automation.
- Work effectively with offshore teams to resolve architectural and delivery challenges.
- Manage and prioritize technical backlog to balance immediate and future requirements.
- Analyze and resolve production issues while building fault tolerance and operational readiness into system architecture.
- Own non-functional requirements, architectural direction, code quality, and technical debt management.
- Demonstrate expertise in scalability and high availability system design.
- Promote team health and foster a culture of engineering excellence through mentorship on good coding practices.
- Recruit and build high-performing teams by hiring top talent and continuously raising engineering standards.
- Identify growth opportunities and tailor development paths for individual team members.
- Lead the team technically while also managing projects and product delivery.
- Ensure the highest security standards across all platforms and underlying infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in server-side and client-side software development.
- At least 3 years of experience in a management role, including performance and people management.
- Proven ability to lead teams effectively.
- Strong knowledge of free and open-source software development, including languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and Objective-C.
- Deep understanding of scalable and highly available system architectures.
- Experience managing live production environments, including monitoring, incident management, and remediation.
- Solid grasp of RESTful service design, API best practices, and building resilient distributed systems.
- Experience with AWS technologies is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.
- Experience working on high-traffic, large-scale web products.
