Engineering Manager - Karachi, Pakistan

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a talented technical team in Pakistan, driving the delivery of top-tier products while embracing new industry trends and challenging your peers. This role offers the opportunity to design and implement complex systems that handle millions of requests daily, contributing to a platform of significant scale and impact.

Key Responsibilities

- Architect, design, and develop cloud-based software applications to support business growth.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Infrastructure, Design, UX, CLM, and Strategy to deliver high-quality products.
- Enforce agile methodologies such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and test automation.
- Work with offshore teams to resolve architectural and delivery challenges.
- Manage and prioritize technical backlog effectively, balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
- Analyze and resolve production issues, ensuring fault tolerance and operational readiness in system architecture.
- Own non-functional requirements, architectural direction, code quality, and technical debt management.
- Apply deep knowledge of scalability and high availability systems.
- Promote team health and cultivate a culture of engineering excellence.
- Mentor team members on good code design patterns and best practices.
- Recruit and build high-performing teams by hiring top engineering talent.
- Identify growth opportunities for team members and provide tailored development paths.
- Lead the team both technically and in project/product management capacities.
- Ensure the highest security standards across all platforms and infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in server-side and client-side software development.
- At least 3 years in a management role with experience leading teams, including performance and people management.
- Strong expertise in open-source software development, including languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and Objective-C.
- Deep understanding of scalable, high availability systems.
- Experience managing live production applications, including monitoring, remediation, and incident management.
- Solid knowledge of RESTful API design and best practices for building resilient, maintainable distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with AWS and its ecosystem is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.
- Proven track record working on high-traffic, large-scale web products.
