English Teacher – O Level (Grades IX to XI)

Reports To: O Level Coordinator
The Intellect School is looking for a qualified and experienced English Teacher to join the Senior Girls Section and teach Grades IX to XI. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured lessons aligned with the Cambridge O Level curriculum. This role involves developing students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension, preparing them for O Level examinations while maintaining the school’s commitment to Islamic values and Shariah-compliant policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver comprehensive English lessons covering literature, language, essay writing, grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills.
- Foster critical thinking, analytical abilities, and effective verbal and written communication among students.
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations through revision sessions, past paper practice, and exam technique guidance.
- Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, assessments, and revision resources tailored to the O Level syllabus.
- Assess student progress regularly by reviewing notebooks, written work, and providing constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, academic performance, and progress reports.
- Create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and learning.
- Integrate digital learning tools and multimedia resources to enhance lesson delivery.
- Fulfill class teacher responsibilities, including supervision during morning assembly, home-time, and prayer times as assigned.
- Conduct substitution classes when required.
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and school administration regarding academic progress and concerns.
- Uphold the school’s Islamic values, moral standards, and Shariah-compliant policies in all aspects of teaching and interaction.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the O Level Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, or a related field.
- B.Ed., PGCE, or an equivalent teaching qualification is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience teaching English, preferably with Cambridge O Level exposure.
- Strong command of English grammar, composition, comprehension, and literary analysis.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with modern teaching methodologies and digital learning tools is advantageous.
- Commitment to the school’s Islamic values and educational philosophy.
