This role is focused on ensuring the secure and reliable handling of SMS traffic by actively monitoring SMS Firewall operations and addressing any issues related to SS7, SMPP, and SMS messaging. The position involves providing timely technical support to Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and partners to maintain uninterrupted service availability and optimize system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and operate SMS Firewall (SMSFW) platforms to maintain service availability, manage traffic flow, and ensure optimal system performance.
- Analyze SMS traffic, alarms, alerts, and system statistics to detect abnormal or suspicious activities promptly.
- Troubleshoot SMPP binds, connectivity problems, and message delivery issues to minimize downtime.
- Examine SMS traces, Event Data Records (EDRs), and logs using SMSFW tools and packet analysis software such as Wireshark.
- Support the detection and investigation of SMS fraud, including grey routes, bypass traffic, and unauthorized SMS routing.
- Perform detailed SS7 and SMPP traffic analysis and troubleshooting to resolve complex technical issues.
- Collaborate closely with MNOs, SMSFW vendors, aggregators, and internal technical teams for effective troubleshooting and service implementation.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system upgrades, maintenance activities, and disaster recovery exercises to ensure system robustness.
- Conduct regular health checks of SMSFW, including monitoring links, binds, traffic levels, redundancy, and overall service availability.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration records, operational procedures, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Manage technical incidents and service requests within defined Service Level Agreements (SLA) and escalation procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in SMS, SMS Firewall, SS7, or Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging environments.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to operate effectively in a 24×7 operational environment when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Hands-on experience working within Mobile Network Operator (MNO) or telecom environments is highly preferred.
- Experience collaborating with international SMS aggregators, messaging providers, or SMS Firewall vendors is considered an advantage.
- Competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs 120,000 to Rs 200,000.
- Work location is on-site, providing direct engagement with operational teams and infrastructure.
