Expert Engineer (Golang)

Join us as an Expert Engineer on our server team, where you will contribute to the development of Aqua’s management console—a sophisticated, multi-component system responsible for background processing, REST APIs, and a web-based UI.

Key Responsibilities
As an Expert Engineer, you will be deeply involved in enhancing the management console by developing features across the entire technology stack. This includes writing SQL queries, implementing business logic, managing background jobs, and building RESTful APIs and web interfaces. Your work will directly impact large technology companies, financial institutions, government agencies, and multinational enterprises. The product is primarily deployed on-premise within customer cloud environments but also includes SaaS components and integrations with CI/CD systems. The software is containerized and primarily written in Go, with a VueJS-based web UI. While Linux is our primary platform, we also support Windows and Mac environments. This role requires working from our Hyderabad office at least three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday).

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience delivering features for large-scale, distributed applications.
- Proven expertise in designing and building multi-component systems or microservices with efficient inter-service communication.
- Strong programming skills in Go, Node.js, Java, or similar languages; experience with Go in production is highly valued.
- Extensive experience building and maintaining APIs (REST or RPC), including managing backward compatibility decisions.
- Deep knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQLite) and/or NoSQL systems (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, Couchbase).
- Proficiency in PostgreSQL performance tuning and writing complex SQL queries, including multi-join operations.
- Solid understanding of primary key strategies (integer vs UUID).
- Experience working with cloud providers, especially AWS.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-native development, including serverless technologies like AWS Lambda, SNS, SQS, EC2, and S3.
- Passion for modern engineering practices, open-source ecosystems, and building reliable software at scale.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Practical experience leveraging GenAI development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to enhance productivity, code reviews, and architectural decisions.
- Knowledge of AI-supported observability, predictive alerting, data analysis, and intelligent root-cause analysis.
- Experience integrating AI/ML-assisted tooling into design, development, test automation, CI/CD, or operational workflows is a strong advantage.
- Strong Linux fundamentals and comfort working in *nix environments.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes is required; OpenShift experience is a bonus.
- Familiarity with event streaming platforms such as Kafka is a plus.
