The Expert Solutions Engineering – Infrastructure (Storage, Compute & Virtualization) role is focused on delivering end-to-end infrastructure solutions across enterprise compute, storage, and virtualization technologies. This position involves engaging with customers to understand their business and technical requirements, designing scalable architectures, and collaborating with OEMs, distributors, partners, and internal teams to develop tailored infrastructure solutions. Reporting to the Head of Presales - SI & Managed Services, the role requires strong coordination across cross-functional teams to support presales activities, technical proposals, and solution validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical presales engagements for enterprise compute, storage, backup/recovery, and virtualization solutions across multiple OEM portfolios.
- Engage with customers to gather business, application, workload, performance, availability, capacity, security, disaster recovery, and growth requirements, translating them into technical solutions.
- Design scalable infrastructure architectures including rack/blade servers, GPU/accelerated compute, SAN/NAS/object storage, hyperconverged infrastructure, virtualization, and management platforms.
- Develop Bills of Quantity (BoQ), Bills of Materials (BoM), sizing calculations, architecture diagrams, technical compliance matrices, solution proposals, presentations, Statements of Work (SoWs), and responses to RFI/RFQ/RFP/tenders.
- Conduct pre-work and solution qualification before customer meetings, workshops, and technical presentations, identifying gaps, dependencies, assumptions, and risks.
- Collaborate with OEMs, distributors, partners, and system integrators for product selection, solution validation, sizing, technical clarifications, demonstrations, workshops, and special configurations.
- Lead technical workshops, solution presentations, proof-of-concept discussions, and customer demonstrations alongside OEM and system integrator experts.
- Evaluate competing technologies and map customer requirements to appropriate OEM products without vendor limitations.
- Coordinate with network, security, cloud, data center, database, backup, and application subject matter experts for solutions with cross-domain dependencies.
- Support commercial teams with technical input, solution differentiation, total cost of ownership (TCO) considerations, licensing/subscription understanding, and value propositions.
- Stay updated on OEM roadmaps, emerging infrastructure technologies, AI/GPU infrastructure, virtualization/container platforms, hybrid cloud, and data protection trends.
Required Qualifications
- 5–6 years of relevant enterprise presales or solution architecture experience in compute, storage, and virtualization.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Networking, Telecom, AI, or a related technology field.
- Hands-on presales experience with multiple OEM technologies across server, storage, and virtualization ecosystems; familiarity with vendors such as Dell Technologies, HPE, Lenovo, Huawei, IBM, NetApp, Pure Storage, Nutanix, VMware/Broadcom, Microsoft, or equivalent platforms.
- Relevant professional certifications from OEMs or recognized technology bodies in server, storage, virtualization, cloud, or data center technologies are strongly preferred.
- Proven experience working directly with OEMs, distributors, authorized partners, and system integrators.
- Strong expertise in enterprise customer engagement, requirement gathering, technical discovery, RFI/RFQ/RFP/tender response, solution sizing, and presales documentation.
- Experience conducting customer workshops, technical presentations, solution demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements.
- Solid understanding of virtualization architectures, hypervisors, clusters, HA/DRS concepts, resource management, virtual networking, and integration with storage and compute.
- Knowledge of SAN/NAS, FC/iSCSI, storage protocols, performance and capacity planning, replication, snapshots, backup, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Ability to analyze application workloads, databases, VDI, AI/GPU, and business-critical workloads and translate them into infrastructure requirements.
- Strong technical writing, presentation, communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
