Faculty - Department of Community Health Sciences

Aga Khan University’s Department of Community Health Sciences (CHS) is seeking qualified candidates for faculty positions specializing in health data science, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning applied to health research. The department is renowned for its leadership in public health education and research, with a strong focus on community empowerment and evidence-based health systems development. Candidates will contribute to innovative curriculum design, teaching, and cutting-edge research within a globally connected academic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver courses on health data science, machine learning, AI applications in health, statistical programming, and data visualization.
- Develop and regularly update specialized training modules covering big data analytics, predictive modeling, and computational methods.
- Supervise and mentor graduate students, fostering high-quality applied research, publications, and innovative use of real-world health datasets.
- Lead or actively participate in research programs focused on advanced analytics, AI, digital health, and computational modeling.
- Support grant writing efforts and contribute to securing research funding in health data science and analytics.
- Establish and nurture collaborations with national and international academic institutions, health systems, and industry partners to enhance applied health data science capacity.
- Translate complex health data into actionable, evidence-based insights to inform health policy, strengthen health systems, and improve population health outcomes.

Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in health data science, advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning, with a proven track record of applying these methods in health research.
- Strong record of research and publications in data science, machine learning, AI, or biostatistics applied to health.
- Proficiency in statistical and computational tools such as R, Python, SQL, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark, and cloud-based platforms.
- Experience in curriculum design, student mentorship, and supervision of applied research projects.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and collaborative environments.
- Demonstrated ability to teach using innovative, technology-enabled, and data-driven methods; experience in hybrid or online teaching is preferred.

Position-Specific Requirements:
- Assistant Professor: PhD or equivalent degree with at least two years of postdoctoral or research experience. Evidence of independent research and publications in health data science, biostatistics, or applied machine learning is essential.
- Senior Instructor: MSc, MPhil, or PhD in Data Science, Biostatistics, or a related field. Candidates with an MBBS combined with MSc or MPhil are also eligible. At least two years of relevant experience and a demonstrated interest in teaching and applied research in data science and analytics are required.
