We are seeking a dedicated Fashion Design Lecturer to join our Design Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical instruction in Fashion Design, mentoring students to develop their creative and technical skills, and contributing to the academic growth of the department. This role requires maintaining professional and industry-relevant teaching standards while fostering an engaging and innovative learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning: Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations, and studio-based practical sessions aligned with the approved curriculum. Develop lesson plans, presentations, assignments, and learning materials that encourage creativity, innovation, and critical thinking. Guide students in areas such as fashion illustration, garment construction, pattern making, draping, textile selection, and fashion styling. Supervise students during practical classes and studio work to ensure effective skill development.

Student Assessment: Design quizzes, assignments, presentations, practical examinations, and final assessments. Assess student work fairly using approved grading rubrics and maintain accurate attendance and assessment records. Provide timely feedback on academic performance and submit grades within university deadlines.

Academic Responsibilities: Adhere to the semester course plan and complete the syllabus on schedule. Prepare and maintain course files and teaching portfolios. Participate in curriculum review and improvement initiatives. Assist in preparing examination papers and marking schemes while ensuring proper documentation for departmental and accreditation purposes.

Student Support: Offer academic counseling and mentoring to support student development. Supervise student portfolios, exhibitions, fashion shows, and final-year projects. Encourage participation in design competitions, workshops, and industry events. Maintain discipline and a positive learning atmosphere in classrooms and studios.

Departmental Duties: Attend departmental meetings, workshops, orientations, and training sessions. Assist in organizing exhibitions, seminars, fashion shows, and university events. Collaborate with faculty members to ensure smooth academic operations and contribute ideas for departmental growth and industry partnerships.

Studio & Equipment Management: Oversee the proper use and maintenance of sewing machines, dress forms, cutting tables, and other studio equipment. Monitor the safe handling of tools and materials and report any damaged or missing equipment to the department.

Professional Development: Stay updated on current fashion trends, technologies, and industry practices. Participate in professional development programs, workshops, and conferences to continuously enhance teaching methods and subject knowledge.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field as per institutional requirements. Candidates with teaching experience in higher education will be preferred. Strong practical knowledge in fashion illustration, garment construction, pattern making, textiles, and fashion styling is essential. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and CLO 3D is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

Excellent communication and presentation skills are necessary, along with strong creative and artistic abilities. Effective classroom and studio management skills, time management, and organizational capabilities are required. The ability to mentor and motivate students, work collaboratively within a team, and demonstrate professional ethics and integrity is essential. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills will contribute to success in this role.

Performance Expectations

Complete the course syllabus within the academic calendar while maintaining at least 90% punctuality and regular attendance. Submit lesson plans, assessments, and grades on time and maintain accurate academic documentation. Ensure high-quality student learning outcomes and actively participate in departmental activities and university events. Uphold professional conduct and the university’s academic standards.

This is a full-time, in-person position offering a monthly salary range of Rs50,000 to Rs55,000.
