Fiber Technician

SATCOMM Private Limited, a leading Internet Service Provider in Pakistan with over 30 years of experience, is seeking a skilled Fiber Technician to join its team in the Karachi Division. The company is known for delivering enterprise-grade fiber connectivity and digital infrastructure solutions nationwide, supporting sectors such as finance, education, healthcare, government, telecom, and multinational enterprises. The Fiber Technician will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing SATCOMM’s resilient fiber network, ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performance connectivity for its customers.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, splice, test, and maintain fiber optic cables and related infrastructure for enterprise and carrier-grade networks.
- Conduct site surveys to assess installation requirements and plan cable routing and organization.
- Terminate fiber connections accurately and use optical test equipment such as OTDR and power meters to verify signal quality and network performance.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues, diagnose faults, and implement corrective actions to maintain network reliability.
- Coordinate closely with the Network Operations Center (NOC) and field teams to ensure timely service delivery, upgrades, and repairs.
- Document all work activities thoroughly, adhering to company standards and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with project and support teams to facilitate smooth execution of fiber deployment and maintenance tasks.
- Follow safety procedures rigorously while working on-site in various field conditions, handling tools and equipment securely.

Required Qualifications
- Strong practical skills in cable handling, including routing, labeling, termination, and physical cable management.
- Technical expertise in fiber optics, including fiber splicing, connectorization, and the use of optical measurement tools such as OTDR and power meters.
- Proficient diagnostic abilities for troubleshooting fiber and cabling faults and identifying performance issues.
- Basic understanding of IP networking concepts, WAN technologies, and telecom infrastructure.
- Relevant technical certification or diploma in telecommunications, networking, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively on-site under field conditions while adhering to safety protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional technical teams.
