The Financial Business Analyst plays a critical role in managing the calculation, reconciliation, and reporting of fees payable to Principal Investigators (PIs). This position ensures accurate fee payments based on sponsor cash receipts, contractual agreements, and patient activity, supporting the financial integrity of clinical studies.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret contractual payment terms for each Principal Investigator.
- Calculate PI fees considering sponsor cash received, patient visits, study milestones, and applicable fee arrangements.
- Assess payments related to new patient randomizations, including those sourced by doctors.
- Prepare detailed statements of account for each PI, outlining fees earned on both cash and accrual bases, payments made, and outstanding or pending amounts.
- Reconcile PI fees with sponsor receipts, clinical activity, and payment records to ensure accuracy.
- Extract and analyze data from systems such as CRIO, COMTRACK, and other relevant platforms.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between contracts, patient activity, sponsor payments, and PI fee calculations.
- Develop forecasts and projections for individual PI fees and future payment needs.
- Support month-end accruals, reconciliations, and management reporting processes.
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Clinical Operations, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Principal Investigators to maintain smooth operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is strongly recommended.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial analysis or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Spreadsheets, and financial reporting systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly and collaboratively.
- Comfortable engaging with physicians, investigators, and executive leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex financial data for diverse audiences.
