We are seeking a hands-on Finance Controller who thrives in a fast-paced small business environment and is eager to take full ownership of the day-to-day financial operations within our organization. This role offers strong exposure to both Canadian and US financial practices, providing a unique opportunity to manage diverse accounting and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will be deeply involved in financial reporting, payroll, budgeting, and ERP system management, while also leading and mentoring a small finance team.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee full-cycle transaction review and general ledger (GL) reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow to support organizational financial health.
- Handle Canadian and US payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate tax compliance.
- Maintain inventory control and perform regular reconciliations.
- Administer the ERP system by building reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs), driving improved system utilization.
- Present financial statements and actionable insights to management to support strategic decision-making.
- Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering professional growth and team effectiveness.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day financial and operational issues.

Required Qualifications

- Recent, hands-on experience in small business finance and reporting, ideally within Canadian or US companies.
- Solid working knowledge of payroll processing and tax compliance requirements for both Canada and the United States.
- Proven expertise in GL reconciliations and preparing financial statements in accordance with Canadian GAAP.
- Comfortable working directly within ERP systems, not only reviewing outputs but also building reports and enhancing system usage.
- Strong problem-solving abilities coupled with experience managing a small team.
- A proactive, “roll up your sleeves” attitude, ready to engage in hands-on tasks beyond supervisory duties.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

This role offers the chance to become the financial backbone of a growing organization, with significant ownership over reporting, systems, and personnel. You will have direct visibility to senior management, allowing you to influence key business decisions and contribute meaningfully to the company’s growth trajectory.

If you are a motivated finance professional with relevant Canadian and US experience looking for a dynamic and impactful role, we encourage you to apply with your resume and a brief summary of your experience in these markets.
