PackageX is developing a Physical Logistics Execution Platform designed for enterprise teams operating in manufacturing sites, distribution centers, warehouses, retail locations, and logistics-intensive environments. The platform leverages Vision AI, workflow automation, mobile execution, and integrations to digitize, execute, and verify physical operations at the point of work, providing trusted evidence of operational activities. The core operating model centers around execution, verification, and evidence.

PackageX is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer - Mobile to collaborate closely with customers, prospects, sales, product, engineering, AI, and implementation teams. This role involves understanding complex physical workflows, designing PackageX solutions, and implementing them in real-world settings. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled software engineer with strong native engineering fundamentals and experience building complex, performance-critical applications. Responsibilities span enterprise workflow design, technical implementation, and ensuring go-live success—from pre-sales through rollout. The role requires architecting and developing cross-platform applications using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform, addressing challenges across Android, iOS, and potentially desktop platforms. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that includes coding, workflow configuration, device provisioning, debugging on-site, and driving customer adoption.

Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in pre-sales discussions to understand operational workflows and customer needs.
- Engage with customers for discovery, workflow mapping, pilot support, readouts, and go-live activities.
- Architect and develop scalable cross-platform applications using Kotlin Multiplatform and Compose Multiplatform.
- Design complex asynchronous workflows involving concurrent API calls, database operations, background processing, and intensive computations.
- Build efficient concurrency models to ensure responsiveness, resource efficiency, and predictable execution.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, threading, and UI rendering.
- Develop robust memory and resource management strategies for large datasets, image processing, and continuous data workloads.
- Create shared application infrastructure while managing platform-specific requirements and native integrations.
- Make architectural decisions regarding modularity, concurrency, state management, persistence, and resource ownership.
- Profile, debug, and optimize applications across supported platforms.
- Establish engineering standards, conduct technical reviews, and contribute to architectural direction.

Required Qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin, including advanced language features such as functional programming, generics, delegation, and higher-order functions.
- Deep understanding of concurrency and structured concurrency with Kotlin Coroutines, including lifecycle management, exception handling, and synchronization.
- Expertise in designing asynchronous workflows with concurrent API calls, database operations, and UI updates.
- Solid grasp of memory management, garbage collection, caching strategies, and performance optimization.
- Experience profiling and resolving CPU and memory issues in production environments.
- Knowledge of Kotlin/Native architecture, runtime internals, and interoperability with Objective-C and Swift.
- Familiarity with Kotlin Multiplatform compilation targets, native binaries, and platform-specific dependencies.
- Strong application architecture skills, including modular design, dependency management, reactive programming, and scalable system design.
- Experience with Compose Multiplatform, declarative UI development, state management, and performance tuning.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and take ownership from architecture through production.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Production experience shipping Kotlin Multiplatform applications on Android and iOS.
- Strong native Android development fundamentals and familiarity with Swift, SwiftUI, and iOS architecture.
- Experience with Kotlin/Native and Objective-C interoperability.
- Knowledge of multiplatform libraries such as Ktor, Koin, SQLDelight, and Room KMP.
- Experience with Gradle, Kotlin Multiplatform build configurations, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to desktop development using Compose Multiplatform.
- Familiarity with GraalVM and JVM performance optimization techniques.
- Experience in computer vision, image processing, or other computationally intensive mobile workloads.

PackageX values candidates who communicate technical concepts clearly, approach problems analytically, and can independently resolve complex concurrency, memory, and performance challenges. The role requires a balance of technical expertise, customer engagement, and hands-on implementation to deliver impactful solutions in logistics operations.

Note: Artificial intelligence tools may be used to assist in the hiring process, such as reviewing applications and analyzing resumes. However, all final hiring decisions are made by human recruiters.
