This role serves as the lead finance business partner for VEON’s Payments & Digital Assets division, providing essential financial planning, analysis, and commercial insights to support strategic decisions, resource allocation, and performance management. The position focuses on wallets, remittances, payments, and digital assets, bringing financial discipline to a rapidly growing and entrepreneurial business. It requires translating complex commercial and operational activities into clear financial narratives and actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis:
Lead the annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning processes for the Payments & Digital Assets business. Develop and maintain detailed financial models covering revenue, unit economics, cost structures, and profitability across wallet, remittance, and digital asset product lines. Monitor actual performance against budget and forecasts, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering:
Act as a finance business partner to product, commercial, and operating teams, embedding financial rigor into daily decision-making. Assess pricing strategies, corridor economics, and partner commercial terms to ensure sustainable margins and strong unit economics. Provide financial input for new market entries, product launches, and partnership negotiations.
Investment & Business Case Support:
Create and rigorously test business cases for new products, markets, and strategic initiatives, including ROI, payback periods, and sensitivity analyses. Support capital allocation decisions by evaluating competing investment opportunities. Collaborate with corporate development and treasury teams on funding requirements and financing structures as needed.
Reporting & Performance Management:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc financial reports for senior leadership and Board-level discussions. Develop and maintain KPI and unit economics dashboards to monitor performance across markets and product lines. Ensure all financial reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with Group finance standards and controls.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Coordinate with Group finance, treasury, tax, and controllership functions to maintain alignment and compliance. Work closely with local operating company finance teams to ensure consistent reporting and high data quality. Support senior leadership with strategic and financial analyses as required.
Required Qualifications
- Over 10 years of experience in Finance, with a strong focus on Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and/or Commercial Finance.
- Proven expertise in financial modeling, capable of building and stress-testing complex, multi-market models.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable business insights.
- Experience collaborating with product, commercial, and operational teams in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience in FinTech, payments, digital wallets, or financial services industries is highly desirable.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent are preferred.
