The Software Engineer will focus on the development and maintenance of Android applications across various devices. This role involves not only creating new applications but also integrating them with back-end services to ensure seamless functionality. The position reports directly to the Director of Technology and Development.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop scalable Android applications tailored to diverse devices.
- Implement coding enhancements and optimize existing applications for better performance.
- Perform performance tuning, address issues identified in QA checklists, and troubleshoot problems effectively.
- Continuously research and reverse engineer competitor technologies to stay ahead in the market.
- Translate designs and wireframes into clean, high-quality code.
- Build and maintain high-performance, reusable, and reliable Java code.
- Ensure applications deliver the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness.
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and implement timely fixes.
- Maintain code quality, organization, and automate processes where possible.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum of two years’ professional experience in software development.
- Certification or hands-on experience in mobile app development, specifically Android.
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and quality assurance processes.

Preferred Skills and Experience

- Strong ability to optimize code performance.
- Proficient in creating comprehensive documentation for code and applications.
- Ability to interpret code quality analysis results and implement remediation strategies.
- Understanding of security risks related to applications and knowledge of corresponding mitigation techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
