Frontend Engineer - Next.js & AI-First Development

Devappics is seeking a skilled Frontend Engineer for an initial two-month remote contract, with the potential for a longer-term engagement based on performance and future needs. This role requires an experienced developer capable of independently managing a modern production web application within an AI-first development environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with advanced frontend technologies and integrating AI tools effectively into their workflow.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain responsive, production-quality web applications using React, Next.js (App Router), and TypeScript.
- Implement frontend state management solutions and reusable component architectures.
- Integrate APIs and handle asynchronous data efficiently.
- Work with forms, validation, authentication, and real-world product flows to ensure seamless user experiences.
- Utilize Stripe.js or other payment integration tools where applicable.
- Employ AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and similar platforms to enhance coding, debugging, refactoring, testing, and overall development speed.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to best practices.
- Collaborate effectively within a remote engineering team, participating in daily meetings and maintaining clear communication.
- Use Git proficiently to manage and contribute to existing codebases.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1–2 years of professional frontend development experience.
- Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Experience with Tailwind CSS, TanStack Query, Zustand, React Hook Form, Zod, Day.js, pnpm, ESLint, and Prettier.
- Solid understanding of modern frontend architecture and the ability to make informed technical decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to build scalable and maintainable frontend solutions.
- Experience with API integration and asynchronous data handling.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working independently and managing responsibilities in a remote setting.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with a distributed engineering team.
- Proven experience with AI-assisted development workflows, beyond simple code generation, emphasizing responsible and thoughtful use of AI tools.
