Full Stack Software Engineer

Kalakar.io is an innovative AI-powered captioning platform focused on Desi languages such as Urdu, Hindi, and other regional dialects. Our mission is to help creators effortlessly generate accurate captions and subtitles, making their video content more accessible and engaging. Currently, over 100,000 creators and businesses rely on Kalakar.io to enhance the reach and shareability of their content across social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for developing and delivering features across both our React frontend and Node.js/Express backend. This includes working extensively with PostgreSQL for schema design, querying, and performance optimization. You will integrate AI captioning pipelines to create seamless and intuitive user experiences, while improving our caption editor and video rendering workflows. Additionally, you will work on scaling systems capable of efficiently processing thousands of videos. Ownership of your work from concept through to production is essential, ensuring high-quality and reliable software delivery.

Required Qualifications
Candidates should have at least 3 years of professional experience working with React and Node.js. A strong understanding of PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization, is necessary. Experience in designing and building RESTful APIs using Express is required. We are looking for someone who thinks beyond individual tasks and prioritizes user experience. The ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment is important. You should enjoy problem-solving and shipping complete products rather than just writing code. Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, or Lambda for building and deploying applications is also expected.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with Remotion, a tool for video rendering using React, is a plus. Familiarity with audio and video processing, AI or large language model (LLM) API integrations, and speech-to-text or machine learning applications will be highly valued. Knowledge of South Asian languages or involvement in the Desi creator ecosystem is an added advantage.

This is a full-time position with a monthly salary of PKR 300,000. The role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere.
