Proto is seeking a skilled full stack engineer to develop and maintain the software and infrastructure powering our AI agent platform. This platform delivers AI solutions to governments, regulators, and businesses across emerging markets. In this role, you will take full ownership of features from conception through production, gaining deep expertise in our SaaS products. Working within a lean, remote-first team, you will leverage AI tools daily to accelerate development and deliver high-quality code rapidly.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and enhance the applications, servers, services, and databases that form the core of our platform.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of our SaaS offerings and contribute to end-to-end product development.
- Utilize AI coding assistants and agentic tools regularly to design, write, test, debug, and review code, sharing effective practices with the team.
- Proactively improve system architecture and reduce technical debt.
- Maintain a healthy codebase that is maintainable, scalable, secure, and free of bugs, including code generated with AI assistance.
- Collaborate closely with product management, QA, and client support teams to ensure seamless delivery and support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in Python and TypeScript development.
- Demonstrated habit of using AI tools—such as coding assistants, automated testing, and code review—to enhance productivity while carefully validating outputs.
- Strong decision-making skills in selecting appropriate tools rather than building everything in-house.
Backend Skills
- Proficiency in Python 3 and FastAPI, including experience with multi-threading, asyncio, and performance optimization.
- Solid experience with relational databases, including writing SQL queries or using ORMs.
- Familiarity with Docker and Docker Compose for containerization.
- Experience managing deployments on AWS.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Celery and RabbitMQ for task queues and messaging.
Frontend Skills
- Strong knowledge of React and TypeScript.
- Understanding of modern web development principles and responsive design.
- Ability to troubleshoot frontend performance issues using developer tools.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Background in natural language processing or computational linguistics.

- Fluency in multiple languages.
