General Accountant

Meds Nexus is looking for a detail-oriented General Accountant to join their Accounts department on a full-time, on-site basis in Rawalpindi. This role operates during the night shift from 5:30 PM to 2:30 AM (Monday to Friday). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, maintaining the general ledger, and ensuring the accuracy of financial workflows. Key duties include overseeing cash flows, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and supporting timely monthly and annual financial closings.

Key Responsibilities

- General Ledger & Financial Controls: Maintain and supervise general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable Management: Handle AP and AR processes, ensuring timely collections, accurate invoice matching, and regulated vendor payments.
- Payroll Processing & Statutory Reporting: Manage payroll calculations, authorize disbursements, and ensure compliance with tax withholding and regulatory filings.
- Bank & Ledger Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of bank statements, petty cash, and inter-company balances to maintain complete accuracy of financial records.
- Expense Management: Monitor cost center allocations and corporate expenses to align with internal budgets and compliance policies.
- Month-End Closing: Execute month-end closing activities and prepare balanced trial balances, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.

Required Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Experience: 4 to 6 years of practical experience in corporate accounting, financial operations, and ledger management.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including lookup functions, complex formulas, and data linking, along with experience using accounting software.
- Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of tax regulations, AP/AR processes, and GAAP/IFRS standards.
- Communication: Effective written and verbal English skills for seamless coordination across departments.
