This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Access to Climate Security and Environmental Justice project in Gwadar, Balochistan. The role involves working closely with government departments and community stakeholders to enhance citizen-centric governance, strengthen state–society linkages, and support grievance redressal mechanisms. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating government engagement, facilitating community awareness, and ensuring effective follow-up on environmental and governance-related issues. This is a seven-month project requiring strong coordination, communication, and analytical skills, with a focus on delivering timely project outputs and supporting monitoring and evaluation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead coordination and engagement efforts with relevant district and provincial government departments to ensure effective collaboration.
- Support initiatives aimed at citizen-centric governance, strengthening state–society relationships, and improving grievance redressal processes.
- Coordinate government involvement in the Gwadar Environmental Protection Forum and facilitate follow-up actions on community environmental grievances.
- Assist in the formation and operation of the Gwadar Informal Working Group by liaising with government representatives and tracking agreed-upon actions.
- Facilitate government coordination for community awareness programs focused on grievance redressal mechanisms.
- Conduct desk reviews, consultations, key informant interviews (KIIs), meetings, and official correspondence with government stakeholders, ensuring timely follow-up.
- Support the identification and documentation of gaps in governance and grievance redressal and facilitate appropriate institutional referrals.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the project’s monitoring and evaluation strategy, including progress tracking, documentation, and reporting.
- Maintain comprehensive records of government engagements, agreed actions, referrals, responses, and institutional follow-up activities.
- Assist the Project Manager in ensuring the timely delivery of project outputs and provide inputs for technical and progress reports.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Governance, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience working with government departments on citizen-centric governance, state–society linkages, grievance redressal, or related initiatives.
- At least four years of professional experience specifically within Balochistan.
- Prior work experience in Balochistan, preferably in Gwadar and/or Quetta.
- Strong understanding of district and provincial government structures and stakeholder coordination.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, documentation, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Willingness and ability to undertake regular field travel within Gwadar and Quetta.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Experience in government coordination, community governance, grievance redressal, climate or environmental issues, or human rights is considered an advantage.
