AirAsia X is looking for a Duty Manager to join its ground services team at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and customer service in all ground operations. This role requires overseeing daily activities, ensuring compliance with both regulatory and company standards, and coordinating effectively with local authorities and internal departments to ensure smooth airport operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, supervise, and monitor the implementation of ground operations while planning and developing departmental strategies.
- Ensure adequate manpower planning to meet operational demands efficiently.
- Provide vision and operational strategy aligned with AirAsia X Ground Operations to maximize productivity and minimize costs.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with local and government agencies to continuously assess airport facilities and ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Enforce discipline among ground staff, ensuring professional conduct when interacting with internal teams and external customers.
- Plan and review staff rosters to ensure fairness, compliance with labor laws, and operational coverage.
- Prepare, coordinate, and present departmental budgets.
- Optimize administrative processes and daily operational standards to meet company procedures and requirements.
- Address passenger complaints and compliments promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate closely with the Training Center to monitor staff performance and integrate new training requirements into future programs.
- Ensure all Ground Operations manuals are regularly updated, maintained, and distributed in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Exercise authority to make decisions on low-risk safety and security events related to aircraft operations, consulting the Head of Department for medium-risk situations.
- Guarantee that ground handling operations comply with applicable regulations and AirAsia X standards.
Required Qualifications
- Friendly, mature, honest, meticulous, and self-motivated personality.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a challenging environment.
- Proficiency in oral and written English or the local language.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact, and discretion in personnel matters.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with passengers and stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work varying hours as operational needs dictate.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Completion of tertiary education is preferred.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in any field is an advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the aviation industry is highly desirable.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Good writing skills and experience handling passenger complaints.
- Comfortable working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
