The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), a leading not-for-profit healthcare institution in Pakistan, is seeking a Head Nurse for its Paediatric Oncology department. Key Responsibilities
Manage 24/7 staffing schedules in line with hospital standards to ensure consistent, quality, and safe patient care, remaining available for shift coverage as required. Oversee the delivery of excellent patient care by ensuring timely completion of physician rounds, continuous patient monitoring, and strict adherence to prescribed treatment plans. Engage regularly with patients and their families to address and resolve any complaints or concerns related to care. Collaborate closely with support service departments to maintain high standards of patient care and meet patient needs. Actively participate in multidisciplinary teams and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing unit processes and outcomes. Develop, implement, and monitor unit-based standards, goals, objectives, and priorities that align with hospital benchmarks. Encourage creativity, initiative, and innovation among nursing staff while mentoring and supporting their professional growth. Monitor nursing staff credentialing and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Assess staff learning needs and ensure completion of Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) and Competency-Based Orientation (CBO) programs. Take an active role in multidisciplinary rounds to support comprehensive patient care.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited institution is required; a Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred. A valid nursing license issued by the Pakistan Nursing Council is mandatory. Candidates must have a minimum of four years of relevant nursing experience, including at least two years in a nursing management role. Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Safe Medication Administration, Aseptic Techniques, Intravenous Cannulation, and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including mornings, evenings, and nights, is necessary. Successful completion of comprehensive employment reference checks is also required.
