AI Case Leads connects accident victims with personal injury law firms across the United States, integrating AI into daily operations across development, management, and sales teams. While AI is already part of the workflow, the company seeks a Head of AI to fully leverage its potential. This leadership role focuses on embedding AI deeply into how the company builds products, operates internally, and gains business insights, transforming AI from a tool into a strategic advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Build the company brain: Design and develop a central AI knowledge system that consolidates call transcripts, Slack messages, CRM data, documents, and other sources. Ensure it is searchable and provides accurate, sourced answers to users across the company. Implement automated pipelines to keep data current, with robust access controls and redaction to protect sensitive customer information.
- Level up engineering: Define AI usage standards for the development team, selecting appropriate models and tools for different tasks. Implement model routing to balance quality and cost, ensuring complex tasks use top-tier models while routine tasks use faster, cost-effective ones. Audit AI-generated code rigorously to catch quality, security, and bug issues before production. Establish clear standards for AI-assisted development, including review checklists and testing protocols. Monitor AI usage and optimize spending company-wide.
- Educate and enable the team: Train managers, team leads, and employees on effective AI prompting and practical applications tailored to their roles. Conduct workshops, office hours, and one-on-one coaching. Develop a shared library of prompts, templates, and workflows. Measure AI adoption and help teams identify high-impact opportunities for AI integration.
- Research and adoption: Stay current with new AI models, tools, and techniques, distinguishing genuine advances from hype. Rapidly test promising innovations and integrate successful ones into workflows. Identify company processes that AI can automate or improve.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years in software engineering with extensive hands-on experience building with large language models (LLMs).
- Proven experience developing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, knowledge bases, or AI search solutions over large volumes of unstructured data such as transcripts, documents, and chats.
- Strong familiarity with leading AI models (e.g., Claude, GPT, Gemini), including their strengths, costs, and limitations.
- Expertise in model routing, fallback strategies, and managing AI costs and rate limits.
- Excellent code review skills, particularly in identifying weak AI-generated code quickly.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python.
- Experience with AI coding tools and agentic workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to teach AI concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing sensitive data securely within AI systems.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with speech-to-text or call transcription pipelines is a plus.
- Background in call center, sales, or lead generation environments is advantageous.
- Familiarity with integrating AI into CRMs, dialers, or automation platforms is beneficial.
- Fully remote work environment.
- Opportunity to build the AI function from the ground up with significant autonomy and authority.
- Access to large volumes of real-world data for AI development.
- Lean organizational structure with direct access to leadership, enabling swift decision-making without bureaucratic delays.
This role requires a hands-on builder and educator who prototypes rapidly, maintains high standards, teaches patiently, and approaches new technologies with practical skepticism. Success will be measured by launching a live company brain within 90 days, achieving daily effective AI use and controlled costs within six months, and ultimately establishing AI as a core competitive advantage for AI Case Leads.
