Head of Supply Chain - Pharmaceuticals

Human Capital HR Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a leading pharmaceutical company for the position of Head of Supply Chain based in Karachi. This senior role requires a seasoned professional to lead and optimize the entire supply chain function, ensuring seamless operations from procurement to delivery. The ideal candidate will have over 12 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably within the pharmaceutical or FMCG sectors, and possess strong leadership skills to drive strategic initiatives and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end supply chain operations including procurement, demand planning, production planning, inventory management, warehousing, and logistics.
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with business goals and production requirements.
- Manage demand forecasting, material planning, and inventory optimization to maintain uninterrupted production and product availability.
- Oversee procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and other critical supplies while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock movements, slow-moving and obsolete inventory, and working capital.
- Coordinate effectively between Procurement, Planning, Production, Quality, Finance, Warehousing, and Sales teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international suppliers.
- Lead supplier evaluation, negotiation, performance monitoring, and risk management activities.
- Ensure efficient warehouse management, distribution, transportation, and delivery processes.
- Establish and track KPIs to improve cost efficiency, service levels, inventory turnover, and delivery performance.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to minimize disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical quality standards, regulatory requirements, GMP, and company policies across all supply chain activities.
- Drive process improvements, automation, ERP utilization, and data-driven decision-making within the supply chain.
- Lead, develop, and mentor the supply chain team to enhance their capabilities and performance.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong expertise in procurement, demand and supply planning, inventory management, warehousing, and logistics.
- In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical supply chain processes and regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing senior stakeholders.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, and vendor management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems, particularly SAP, and supply chain planning tools is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a strategic mindset combined with a hands-on approach.
