Head QA - AI Native

We are seeking an experienced Head of Quality Assurance to lead and ensure that all products delivered to customers meet the highest quality standards. This role involves owning and managing an AI-powered QA Engineer agent responsible for writing and executing test cases, creating unit tests, performing regression testing, and validating that implementations meet acceptance criteria. The Head QA will define quality gate standards that determine release readiness, relying on the QA Engineer agent for all testing activities rather than manual testing.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and enforce quality standards across all products to maintain consistency and excellence.
- Establish automated quality gate criteria for product releases to ensure only high-quality versions are shipped.
- Develop comprehensive test coverage requirements and an effective testing strategy aligned with business goals.
- Conduct quality audits and perform trend analysis to identify areas for improvement across product lines.
- Own and continuously improve the QA Engineer agent by training it to detect defects, write thorough tests, and validate requirements accurately.
- Define testing templates, coverage requirements, and defect classification standards to guide the AI agent’s operations.
- Enhance the agent’s capabilities to reduce false positives and improve defect detection rates.
- Resolve complex quality disputes and edge cases that the AI agent cannot handle independently.
- Collaborate closely with Product Engineers to address quality issues that impact product decisions.
- Track and report quality metrics such as defect escape rate, test coverage, and regression pass rates.
- Work with the Software Architect to balance code quality with test quality, ensuring robust software delivery.

Required Qualifications

- Over 10 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with deep expertise in test strategy, planning, execution, and quality management.
- Advanced skills in quality metrics, defect analysis, root cause investigation, regression testing, and exploratory testing.
- Hands-on experience with performance and load testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
- Proficiency in API testing using Postman, Swagger, and RESTful APIs.
- Strong SQL and database skills, including complex queries involving SELECT, JOIN, and GROUP BY.
- Proven ability in test documentation and test case design, preferably with tools like Qase.
- Experience with bug tracking, triage, and reporting using platforms such as JIRA.
- Competence in UI/UX validation and using browser Developer Tools for troubleshooting.
- Expertise in test automation architecture and designing scalable automation frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks such as Playwright.
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, ideally with Bitbucket.
- Solid understanding of automated test execution, monitoring, and reporting processes.
- Advanced proficiency with Git and version control systems.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Python or JavaScript for developing and maintaining automated test scripts.
- Experience configuring and working with AI-powered QA agents, including workflow integration and agent quality assessment.
- Skilled in prompt engineering tailored for QA and test automation.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing and mentoring QA teams, driving process optimization and continuous improvement.
- Good understanding of software development technologies including HTML, JavaScript, and PHP.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a proactive approach to quality assurance.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with AI-powered development and testing tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Codex, or Antigravity.
- Familiarity with Claude (Anthropic) AI is a strong plus.
