The Home School Teacher position at Metaviz is a full-time, on-site role located in Park View, VA. This role involves designing and delivering a structured, age-appropriate curriculum across core subjects including mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies. The teacher will tailor lessons to meet individual learning needs, ensuring each student receives personalized instruction. Daily duties include lesson planning, direct teaching, assigning and grading work, and monitoring academic progress through regular assessments and detailed reports. The role also requires the integration of educational technology to enhance learning, fostering critical thinking and creativity, while maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the student’s educational goals and learning style.
- Provide direct instruction in core K–12 subjects, adapting content to individual needs.
- Assign, review, and grade student work to evaluate understanding and progress.
- Track academic performance through regular assessments and maintain comprehensive records.
- Utilize educational technology tools and online resources to support interactive learning.
- Encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills in students.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and inclusive learning environment that supports student growth.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to discuss educational goals, progress, and social-emotional development.
- Collaborate with families to support the student’s overall well-being and academic success.
Required Qualifications
- Strong instructional skills in core K–12 subjects, including lesson planning, curriculum development, and student assessment.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learning styles through engaging and interactive teaching methods.
- Proficiency with educational technology tools, online learning platforms, and basic productivity software such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with parents or guardians.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to plan daily schedules, manage educational materials, and document student progress.
- Experience in homeschooling, tutoring, or classroom teaching is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is preferred. Teaching certification or relevant training is an advantage.
