Our client, HRSI, is seeking a skilled HVAC Supervisor based in Karachi to oversee the maintenance, installation, and repair of HVAC systems within their operations. This role involves supervising HVAC technicians, mechanics, and subcontractors to ensure that daily work schedules and preventive maintenance programs are executed efficiently. The HVAC Supervisor will inspect a variety of equipment, including chillers, air handling units, fan coil units, variable refrigerant flow/volume (VRF/VRV) systems, package and split units, pumps, cooling towers, and ventilation systems. They will diagnose faults and ensure timely corrective actions to maintain system reliability.
The position requires close collaboration with other MEP teams and strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. The HVAC Supervisor will facilitate smooth commissioning and handover of HVAC systems. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise HVAC technicians, mechanics, and subcontractors during installation, maintenance, and repair activities, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Plan and coordinate daily HVAC maintenance and work schedules to optimize operational efficiency and resource use.
- Conduct regular inspections of HVAC equipment such as chillers, air handling units, fan coil units, VRF/VRV systems, package and split units, pumps, cooling towers, and ventilation systems to promptly identify and resolve issues.
- Accurately diagnose HVAC system faults and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Monitor preventive maintenance programs, ensuring all scheduled tasks are completed on time and progress is tracked meticulously.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, equipment specifications, method statements, and maintenance procedures to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate HVAC activities with electrical, plumbing, civil, and other MEP teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Oversee proper installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of HVAC systems in line with design specifications and quality standards.
- Manage manpower, tools, equipment, and materials required for HVAC operations, ensuring availability and efficient utilization.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, equipment performance, and service reports for auditing and operational review.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards during all HVAC operations to safeguard personnel and property.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential equipment failures, operational challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and management, providing transparent updates and resolving HVAC-related issues.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to HVAC technicians and junior staff to enhance their skills and operational knowledge.
- Continuously monitor HVAC system performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability, efficiency, and energy conservation.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress and maintenance reports to keep stakeholders informed of project status and performance.
- Ensure all HVAC tools and equipment are properly maintained, calibrated, and safely used according to standards and procedures.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification. They should have 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in HVAC, particularly focusing on plant operations and project execution. A strong technical understanding of HVAC systems is essential, along with proficiency in reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance procedures.
